here’s my theory: 

john really loved paul/wanted him, but out of fear he sort of didn’t… act on it. i believe that paul was very reclined because of the attitude to homosexuals and the ‘bloke-y’ touch to it all. paul felt for john in a slightly romantic way but tried to repress it with all his might, cause it was so ‘wrong’. 

one night they may have gotten to close for call and upset each other equally. india anyone? who knows. john felt more intensely for paul than paul did for him romantically i believe, because paul didn’t have attachment issues like john did. john, up until his death yearned for paul. paul was a likely contender to yoko, but not really. hypothetically. he was. 

after john’s death i believe that paul truly realised that john was ‘the one that got away’ and deeply regrets not being able to have lived out what they possibly could have had, cause all the signs were pointing to yes but the time was never ‘right’ - nothing ever seemed right - and it was all doomed and failed. 

they were soulmates, not twin flames. soulmate relationships are meant to give you a lesson in life. the lesson learned between john and paul? is to love unashamedly and go with your heart. say you love someone when you feel like you need to. it’s very important. if you’ve read this far, always know that i love you and believe in you and you should believe in yourself to, you should never feel ashamed for feeling a certain way. thank you for reading.
